Last month when I went to Anita’s Beads in New Hampshire with my sister I found some porcelain beads shaped and painted like owls that screamed at me “we are potential stitch markers!” I blogged about our excursion before, which included a link with instructions on how to make stitch markers with beads.
Last week I finally made my army of owl stitch markers. I have ten, color coded with size 6/0 glass beads in pairs:
Before I head off to the post office to send Luna’s leg warmers to her, I’m just finishing my morning coffee and taking the time to let you know that if you want to make these you can get the pattern for free from my Ravelry store! Just go here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lunas-leg-warmers
I made these because my friend needed something that would hold up and fit under clothing comfortably. Knit with light sport yarn or sock yarn, they fit (surprise surprise!) like knee-high socks but without the feet.
The pattern includes suggestions for customizing them and I wrote it so that row gauge would not be critical.
